Bent on Food

Food that’s both tasty and original is offered indoors, or outside under shade sails, along with a vast range of local produce and regional specialties from across Australia. Home chefs can select from an irresistible array of cheeses, breads, oils, spices, herbs, preserves, tea, books and fine kitchenware.

This modern café is a popular drawcard in the rustic Wingham setting, an edgy meeting place for discerning travellers and a must-visit destination for breakfast or lunch while in the area.

Every dish is delivered with flair: a locally smoked frankfurt with red onion and thyme marmalade, mustard, tomato and rocket on a lightly toasted baguette … that’s a hot dog, here!

An antipasto plate is an inspired way to try a taste of all the best local flavours – meats from Taree’s renowned artisan butcher, blue vein from the nearby Comboyne culturists, Hastings cheddar, Yarras olives, roasted eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes, marinated baby figs, roast olive tapenade, apricot mustard and balsamic vinegar are among the samples by “name” local producers that go to make up a true regional feast. And a mere $7 secures a serving of fresh-baked banana bread with Hastings honey yoghurt and rhubarb and lime compote, perfect with a latté or piccolo brewed from fresh-ground coffee beans.
